Official handover of four Isuzu NPR 300 Trucks to the Mossel Bay Municipality.

On Friday 2 July, CP Nel Motors celebrated the official handover of four Isuzu NPR 300 Trucks to the Mossel Bay Municipality. This tender was awarded to CP Nel Motors during April, following the normal tender process and represents an additional four Isuzu Trucks to the Mossel Bay Municipality’s already large fleet of Isuzu trucks.

A very special feature of this order is the fact that CP Nel Motors, in conjunction with Isuzu Trucks South Africa, were able to offer what Isuzu call a “Smoother” gearbox. To the uninitiated, this is an “Automated Manual Transmission”, which essentially means that the driver has the use of an automatic gearbox. Clutch replacement over the life of a truck usually represents a considerable operating expense, especially if the usage of the truck requires slow, stop start operation, as will be the case with these four vehicles, which are in service with the dept of Environment, Sport and Recreation. An automatic transmission will therefore represent not only a very much easier driving situation, but will save a considerable amount in maintenance over the life of the truck.

According to Fransie Johnson, the CP Nel Motors Sales executive who is responsible for Isuzu truck business at this Dealership, the relationship with Mossel Bay Municipality is a very healthy one, and is based upon many years of outstanding levels of service. “Not only are we a local Company”, says Fransie, “but we have a proud history of excellent service levels to the Municipality. We have delivered very many vehicles to our local Municipality over many years, including almost every single garbage compactor in service in all areas served by the Municipality. We are also proud to add that we make use of a locally-based truck body builder, Tipper Clinic, who also go out of their way to provide a product of outstanding quality, so all in all, we keep the business within the Mossel Bay community.”
